Paver patios for Central Florida outdoor living
Central Florida's climate gives you 9-10 months of comfortable outdoor living per year — but only if you have the right surface to use. A 12x16 concrete slab is functional but it's not where you want to spend a Saturday evening. A 14x20 paver patio with the right pattern, color, and integration into the landscape is.
We design and install paver patios in three primary categories: standalone backyard entertaining spaces, lanai expansions (extending an existing covered porch into the yard), and pool-deck-adjacent patios that tie into the pool area without crossing into the pool deck itself.
What size patio should you build?
For a small outdoor dining set (4 chairs + small table): 10x12 minimum, 12x14 ideal. For a full outdoor living layout (sectional + dining + fire pit area): 16x20 minimum, 20x24 ideal. For elaborate setups with outdoor kitchens and multiple zones: 24x28+ with proper zoning.
Patterns and what they signal
Herringbone is the traditional choice — durable, classic, slightly formal. Running bond reads more modern and simpler. Basketweave is rare but works well with smaller paver units in cottage-style homes. Random ashlar (mixed paver sizes) reads upscale and works well with larger patios. We'll show samples on-site.
Tying into existing hardscape
Most Central Florida patios connect to either an existing slab (concrete lanai) or a paver walkway. We use proper expansion joints at the connection point and color-match or contrast-coordinate the new pattern with the existing surface.
