Retaining wall types we install
Retaining walls hold back soil where there’s a grade change — a sloped backyard that needs leveling, a driveway cut into a hill, or a pool deck that needs to step down to a lower yard. Central Florida’s sandy soils make most walls structurally simpler than rocky terrain, but drainage behind the wall is critical to prevent water pressure failures.
Segmental block retaining walls
Modular concrete block units (Belgard, Tremron) stacked in a running bond pattern. Each course steps back slightly to lean into the retained soil. Great for landscape walls under 4 feet high. $25–$55 per sq ft of wall face.
Poured concrete walls
Cast-in-place concrete walls with rebar reinforcement, used for taller walls (4+ feet) or where high load capacity is required. $45–$80 per sq ft of wall face.
Boulder / natural stone walls
For rustic landscape design where the wall is the visual focal point. Material cost varies widely; install runs $30–$60 per sq ft.
Engineering and permits
Walls over 4 feet tall in Central Florida typically require engineered plans and a permit. We coordinate with structural engineers and handle the permit process for engineered walls.
